ABOUT The university pathway option

Did you know that there are many different pathways to university that aren’t just about your ATAR/IB score?


Many Universities have alternate entry pathways. Depending on your choice of University and Degree you wish to enroll into you can Enroll into our Certificate Programs or our Diploma Courses as an alternate pathway into university. Study a course through BEST Training.   A Certificate III is roughly equivalent to year 12, and certificate IV or diploma courses can be used for university entrance. In NSW students can access smart & skilled funding through BEST TRAINING from age 15 without needing a year 10 certificate which is subsidised training opportunities which are available to all NSW residents and citizens.


At BEST Training we offer our Business Management University Pathways Program which is a combination of the Certificate IV in Business BSB40120 and the Diploma of Business BSB50120. This course is held in the afternoons, every Tuesday afternoon from 3pm to 6pm and Friday afternoons from 3pm to 6pm. Students can join our face-to-face classes or undertake the training through a distance learning option.

ALTERNATIVE STUDY PATHWAY

The Early School Leaver Business Program is a tailored educational initiative designed to provide comprehensive training and support for individuals who have left school prematurely but are eager to pursue a career or study in the business world. The combination of different level qualifications allows the student to recover from their premature exit from the school and gain the skills abilities and knowledge to pursue an alternative entry to university or higher education. This program offers a structured curriculum covering essential skills that lead to further training into our business qualification courses. You will learn about business concepts, such as marketing, finance, management, and entrepreneurship, delivered through engaging lectures, workshops, and hands-on projects. Emphasising practical skills development and mentorship, the program equips participants with the knowledge and tools necessary to succeed in various business environments. By fostering a supportive learning environment and promoting personal growth, the Early School Leaver Business Program empowers individuals to unlock their potential and build a solid foundation for a successful career in business.


BSB20120 - CERTIFICATE II IN WORKPLACE SKILLS

Subjects you will be studying.

  • Apply communication skills
  • Develop and apply thinking and problem solving skills
  • Work effectively in business enviornments
  • Support personal wellbeing in the workplace
  • Plan and apply time management 
  • Participate in sustainable work practices 
  • Use business software applications
  • Use digital technologies to communicate in a work enviornment 
  • Research using the internet
  • Contribute to the health and safety of self and others

What you will achieve

Through a mixture of theory and practical course work, learn to:


  • Apply communication skills
  • Work alongside colleagues and managers

  • Employ sustainable work practices

  • Practical learning via an online virtual enterprise environment
  • Practise using real workplace documents and scenarios

What can I do after I finish this course?

Participants usually continue from this course to study the Certificate III in Business. 

Am I eligible for NSW Smart and Skilled Funding?

NSW Smart and Skilled provides eligible NSW students with subsidised training up to and including Certificate III, as well as government funding for higher-level courses (Certificate IV and above) in targeted priority areas.


The focus of NSW Smart and Skilled is getting people into the workforce by helping them improve language, literacy and numeracy as well as gain specific job skills. Certificates I, II and III are considered the minimum requirements for getting a job.


People who meet the NSW Smart and Skilled eligibility conditions are entitled to enrol in a subsidised course up to Certificate III regardless of the level of any previous qualifications held. 


While NSW Smart and Skilled focuses on entry-level qualifications, subsidised training is also available for some Certificate IV, Diploma or Advanced Diploma level in targeted areas.


To be eligible for NSW Smart and Skilled funding you must be an Australian citizen, Australian permanent resident, Australian humanitarian visa holder or New Zealand citizen; 15 years old or over; no longer at school and living or working in NSW.


BSB30120 - CERTIFICATE III IN BUISINESS

Subjects you will be studying.

  • Apply critical thinking to work practices
  • Articulate, present, and debate ideas
  • Coordinate business resources
  • Organise business meetings
  • Manage personal health and wellbeing 
  • Develop personal work priorities
  • Use digital technologies to collaborate in a work enviornment
  • Build and maintain business relationships
  • Implement and monitor WHS policies, procedures, and programs
  • Write complex documents
  • Apply communication strategies in the workplace 
  • Lead and facilitate a team

What you will achieve

Through a mixture of theory and practical course work, learn to:



  • Use digital technologies to communicate in the workplace and complete business tasks
  • Establish business relationships
  • Draft complex documents and create presentations
  • Communicate with colleagues and seniors
  • Think critically and make decisions in the workplace
  • Exposure to realistic business environments
  • Confidence handling and producing real-life business documents
  • Experience using business technology like Microsoft Teams and Microsoft Office suite

Is this course right for me?

To want to do this course you should have:


  • Completed a Certificate III in Business (can complete simultaneously)
  • Confidence in creating and managing multiple files across the Microsoft Office suite, such as compiling information using Excel spreadsheets and Word documents
  • Keyboard skills
  • Time management and organisational skills

What can I do after I finish this course?

Participants usually continue from this course to study the Diploma in Business. You are able to enroll into Certificate IV in Business and complete the work simultaneously.

PAST STUDENTS

Most of our students have gone onto further study or career pathways with the use of the business certificates they acquired at B.E.S.T

The four students below studied for 12 months and received their Certificate II in Workplace Skills, Certificate III in Business, and Certificate IV in Business. They are all now undertaking the career/study pathway of their choice and are extremely happy with the progress they have made since leaving school.
